Latest firing goes well

Having experienced some  humility from losing half of our last firing, we were relieved to see this one come through perfectly.  Just a pinch of salt, a little sugar, more liquid and a little less time in the oven did it fine!

Two October firings

 Here are just a few photos of the last two kiln loads. We actually lost some pieces because of a thermocouple malfunction. Sad because the glaze was gorgeous.... it just ran onto the shelf......
Saved some but lost others. The ones that survived look beautiful. Reminded me of our days reduction gas firing to Cone 10 in our Minnesota Flattop car kiln. Those days you never knew what you'd find when you opened the kiln the next day. Electric firings are much more controllable.... unless of course, the machine breaks!

Success at the 2012 Saugerties Artists Tour

 With this year's tour of our studio amongst 39 others done, I thought I'd share some photos with you.

After much preparation, we opened to the public and they came!!

Three Firings Running

With our departure pending, here is a quick look at three firings. Our last one is going on now. It will be tough to get everything into the car. We are headed for the Des Moines Arts Festival June 22-24, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver July 5-8 and the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original July 18-21....big plans!

A Visual Feast of Landscapes 2012

 At long last, the landscapes are finished with exception of the large bowl which is in the firing now.

I am pleased......... these are so much fun to make and of course, it has something to do with the fact that I don't make them very often and they are very individual designs.
