What fun to be in the studio again and work on my landscape pieces! After looking at many beautiful books and drawing some ideas in my notebook, I've started this year's special work before turning my attention to filling the gaps in our stock. Here is what I have so far:
"The chief source of art is man's pleasure in his daily work, which expresses itself and is embodied in that art itself."

Half Half

Glazing Day
Nice Firing!
December is one of those months that we find ourselves with one foot in and one foot out. Finishing up orders for galleries needing to fill their selves and for people buying gifts, we spend some time in the studio.
The other half of the time, we spent visiting friends and fixing up our home. This year Bailey Pottery and Equipment put on a Xmas spread worth going to.... especially since Steve won the door prize!!
Hope you too are enjoying the holiday festivities....

Two October firings
Here are just a few photos of the last two kiln loads. We actually lost some pieces because of a thermocouple malfunction. Sad because the glaze was gorgeous.... it just ran onto the shelf......
Saved some but lost others. The ones that survived look beautiful. Reminded me of our days reduction gas firing to Cone 10 in our Minnesota Flattop car kiln. Those days you never knew what you'd find when you opened the kiln the next day. Electric firings are much more controllable.... unless of course, the machine breaks!
Second firing did better. We happily greeted the trees, callas and Irises.

Hammer and chiseling the bottom pots off the shelves... bummer!
Still, what made it looked beautiful!!
